Shipping Policy


Processing & Delivery Schedule

North 40 strives to provide prompt delivery of our products. Please allow ~5 business days for processing time in addition to the shipping transit times. We ship all of our beef on Mondays to prevent product from sitting over the weekends.

Due to the perishable nature of our products, we ship based on the transit times from our facility to the final destination within the same calendar week. For example, an order received on Wednesday, going to California, would not be shipped until the following Monday. Please refer to the zone schedule below to estimate delivery times. 

North 40 reserves the right to temporarily refrain from processing orders based on severe weather in the transit process. Customers are notified immediately via phone and/or email of the slight delay. Usually occurring in winter weather, typical delays are 1-2 business days.

Packages are shipped via UPS ground services. Midwestern states can expect their boxes approximately 1-2 days after shipment and coastal states can expect their boxes approximately 3-4 days after shipment.

Our products can only be shipped within the continental United States.  We do not ship internationally.

You will receive a confirmation email with a tracking number.

This schedule is provided to offer an estimate and is not a guarantee of delivery times. While we make every effort to meet these guidelines, periods of increased volume (including holidays and unforeseen circumstances) may extend the processing time of shipments. For transit zones close to Nebraska, orders may arrive earlier than expected. Upon processing an order for shipment, emails are generated to each customer with UPS tracking numbers. Please refer to this email with UPS tracking ID# for a more precise delivery date.


North 40 offers no guarantee of delivery with incorrect addresses. Please ensure all shipping addresses are correct prior to submitting your order.


Packages are clearly marked “perishable” and will expire if not kept cold. Your products should be frozen, partially frozen, or cool to the touch when you open the package. Partially thawed products can be re-frozen. It is the responsibility of the consumer to ensure that the contents of the package can be refrigerated promptly upon delivery. It is the responsibility of the consumer to follow all health and safety guidelines when thawing and handling products.

To ensure that our customers receive our high-quality beef products in a safe and timely manner, all beef is flash-frozen at our USDA Federally Inspected craft butcher. In shipment, we package the beef in an insulated box with dry ice to ensure your product stays frozen.

Packages may contain partially-dissipated dry ice and/or gel packs.  This is common in the shipping process. Avoid touching any remaining dry ice with bare skin. You may leave dry ice inside the cooler to evaporate or use gloves to remove and dispose of the ice in a well-ventilated outdoor location, safely away from children and pets. 

Sometimes when the boxes are completely full of beef and the weather allows, we won’t need to add anything to the frozen beef as it’ll insulate itself. 


North 40 is not responsible for packages that are lost, stolen, or perish due to the recipient not being available at the time of delivery.

It is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure someone is available to receive a gift package at the time of delivery. It is the buyer’s responsibility to make any special arrangements upon delivery for any order shipped to any apartment address. Typically, UPS will deliver to an apartment lobby. Please note that UPS will deliver to your doorstep with “No Signature Required.”

Quality Concerns 

If you have any questions or concerns on the quality of your product upon arrival please email us as soon as possible. Please include pictures of the box as it arrived, what the product looked like upon opening and the condition of the actual individual packages of product. The meat must arrive cool to the touch. Even if it’s not frozen solid, it is safe to eat if arrives with a cool temperature. However if the meat arrives at room temperature, please contact us immediately and avoid consuming product. We will do our best to respond to any concerns in a timely manner.

Beef 1/4 and 1/2 Shipping

Note that wholesale and bulk beef purchases, including 1/4 and 1/2 of beef bundles, will not quality for special shipping promotions and/or discounts. Some shipping is available in these cases, however actual shipping and handling costs will apply. Please message us to find out more information!
